The Oddsmakers’ Picks To Win The PGA Championship: Rory McIlroy 7/1, Jordan Spieth 7/1

McIlroy is one of the favorites because, well, it’s Rory McIlroy. Rory played great in his last 2 tournaments. He shot a 275, -5, at The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale. Then, he shot a 273, -7 at the WGC-Bridgestone last week. Rory’s tightener at the WGC-Bridgestone means he’s got a shot.

Spieth won The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale with a 268, -12. Spieth tightened his game up at the WGC-Bridgestone with a 276, -4. Both golfers deserve their favorite status.

But, I don’t recommend wagering on either golfer. The reason is that it’s difficult, for me at least, to swallow less than double-digit odds on any golfer to win a PGA Tournament, much less win a major PGA Tournament.

The Sharp Pick To Win The PGA: Rickie Fowler 16/1

Eventually, Fowler’s going to take home the trophy for one of the PGA’s majors. He could take home the PGA Championship trophy this week. First, Rickie’s form has been fantastic. He finished fifth at the U.S. Open, third at the Quicken Loans National, twenty-second at the U.S. Open, and ninth at the WGC-Bridgestone.

But, that’s not the real reason to like Fowler going into this week’s PGA Championship. The real reason to like Fowler is that he often hits the ball well at Quail Hollow. Quail Hollow is the site of this year’s PGA Championship Tournament. Fowler won the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow in 2012.

The Long Shot Pick To Win: Justin Rose 28/1

Rose’s form is a mess. He missed the cut at the U.S. Open. At Royal Birkdale, Rose finished in fifty-fourth place after shooting a 284, +4. At the WGC-Bridgestone, Rose shot a 288, +8. He finished in sixty-third place.

Why, then, do I like Rose as a possible longshot play to win the 2017 PGA Championship? Rose was only a stroke off from last year’s Wells Fargo Championship winner. Rose shot a 280, -8. If he can rediscover some of that Quail Hollow magic this week, he could win.

Live Bet The Open While Playing The Newest Slot Games

While you were sleeping, the first round of the 2017 British Open teed shortly after 1:00 AM, but at 5Dimes you can bet golf live while in play.

World No. 3 Jordon Spieth cards a 5-under 65 in the first round of the Open Championship. He was a 12/1 favorite to win the famed Claret Jug. Spieth was bogeyless on the front nine and made birdies on 2, 8 and 9 to go out in three-under 31. He added birdies on 14 and 17 to close out at 65 and steal the clubhouse lead from Ian Poulter.

Fellow American Brooks Koepka closed out strong with an eagle on 17 to close at -5 as well.

Yet to tee off is 11/1 favorite Dustin Johnson. Click here for live leaderboard results.

Odds & Picks For The Open

Odds & Picks For The Open

The three biggest betting favorites to win the 2017 British Open all failed to make the cut at the recently completed U.S. Open. Now the question is if there’s still money to be made at the upcoming 2017 Open Championship? Click here to bet on golf at 5dimes.

Better known as the British Open, the 2017 version looks like it could be a wide-open ‘brawl for it all’ when the146th version of the renowned tournament, goes down from July 20-23 at the Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport, England.

This year marks the 10th time that the British Open will be played at Royal Birkdale. The last time was back in 2008 when Padraig Harrington successfully defended his title. The course is a par-70 that is 7,173 yards in length. Now, let’s get to my picks.

The Oddsmakers’ Consensus Pick To Win The Open: Dustin Johnson 11/1

Despite missing the cut at the US Open after shooting an opening round of 75 and following that up with a 73, not to mention, missing the Master’s all together, Johnson is the favorite entering the 2017 British Open. The bad news is that Johnson has two missed cuts. One 13th place finish and one 12th place finish over his last four starts. The good news is that DJ recorded a pair of wins, one second place finish and one third place finish in his four tournaments prior to his recent dry spell. Johnson’s got the length, but it remains to be seen if he can manage the often tricky wind conditions that the British Open presents on an almost annual basis, although he has finished in the top 15 in five of the last seven years.

The Insider Pick To Win The Open: Tommy Fleetwood 20/1

Englishman, Tommy Fleetwood can hit it long and straight and that means he’ll have a shot to win this year’s British Open – if he can overcome the pressure that is always associated with being a home favorite. The 26-year-old who, ironically, hails from Southport, finished fourth at this year’s U.S. Open and second at the WGC Championships in Mexico in March, while also winning the HNA Open de France in June and the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship in January. Make no mistake about it people, it could happen for Fleetwood.

The Long Shot Pick To Win The Open: Lee Westwood 60/1

Last but not least, another Englishman, 44-year-old Lee Westwood is my pick to upset the entire field as a 60/1 longshot after finishing 55th at the U.S. Open, 65th at the Players Championship an encouraging 18th at the Masters. Westwood also finished 10th at the HNA Open de France on June, 15th at the Nordea Masters and eighth at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship in January. Sure he’s going to have to battle, but the Worksop native will have a shot to pull off the outright upset.

2017 US Open Golf Odds & Picks

2017 US Open Golf Odds & Picks

With the start of the 2017 U.S. Open taking place in just over 48 hours, the big question heading into the second major of the year is whether or not anyone can beat out World No. 1 and prohibitive favorite Dustin Johnson to keep him from winning back-to-back U.S. Open championships.

If you’re getting set to place a few betting bucks on the 2017 U.S. Open and you want to know which golfers look like they’re offering some solid value against their odds to win this year’s title as either a top contender or longer shot selection, then let’s find out now!

2017 US Open Golf Odds & Picks

The 2017 U.S. Open gets underway on Thursday, June 15, live from at Erin Hills Golf Course in Erin, Wisconsin. The complete odds to win the 2017 U.S. Open are at the end of the post.

The Las Vegas Oddsmakers’ Pick – Dustin Johnson 7/1

Dustin Johnson is the prohibitive favorite heading into the 2017 U.S. Open and for good reason. Not only did the World No. 1 win last year’s championship, but he also finished second in 2015 and fourth in 2014. In 10 events this year, Johnson has made the cut nine times, while recording three wins and a half-dozen top 10 finishes.

Johnson won the Genesis Open in February and the World Golf Championships in Mexico a month later but missed his opportunity to challenge for his first win at the Masters in April because of an injury he suffered just before the start of the world’s most coveted golf tournament.

Johnson will be plenty motivated after finishing 12th at The Players Championship and 13th at the AT&T Byron Nelson Classic. Johnson leads the PGA Tour in driving distance (312.02 ypd) and will have a better than average chance of winning his second career major.

The Sharp Pick – Jason Day 12/1

I love the value that World No. 44 Jason Day is offering heading into the U.S. Open despite his erratic year so far. While Day finished tied for 15th at the Memorial but managed to finish second to  Billy Horschel at the AT&T Byron Nelson. More importantly, the sweet-swinging Australian has recorded an impressive four, top 10 finishes in the last five U.S. Opens including his second place finish in 2013, fourth place finish in 2014 and eighth-place finish a year ago.

The Longshot Pick – Daniel Berger 60/1

You many not have heard of Daniel Berger, but I have and I’m fully expect him to challenge for the title seeing as how he’s ranked 10th in the world and will enter the U.S. Open coming off his second straight win at the FedEx St. Jude Classic this past weekend and has recorded three other top 10 finishes this year including a pair of top-five finishes.

Masters Week

A year ago, veteran golfer Danny Willett shocked the world to win the 2016 Masters with a stellar five-under-par 67 on the final day while 2015 champion Jordan Spieth collapsed during a captivating final round.

Willett won his first major by three shots to become the first British winner in two decades. Spieth, 22, led by five shots as he approached the 10th hole at Augusta, but the American superstar fell completely apart by dropping six shots in three holes.

This year, for the first time fan favorite Dustin Johnson is favored to win the Masters at 11-2. Trailing Johnson are Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy, who are each 7-1 and are the only others with single-digit odds.

The over/under on winning score opened at 281.5, 6.5-under par.

Merry Bowl Season To All

As we enter the waning days of 2016 and join our families for the holidays, let’s not forget what December was made for.

College Bowl Season!!!

The 2016-17 college football bowl season is underway. This college bowl season features several compelling matchups leading up to the College Football Playoff championship game on Jan. 9th in Tampa, Florida. Some bowl odds won’t offer much value — Alabama is by far the odds-on favorite to win the title — but others will have the excitement we expect throughout the rest of the season.

The New Year = The Return Of Tiger

The New Year is upon us and we have had a Tiger Woods sighting.

Woods finished in 15th in an 18-player field at the Hero World Challenge in early December, closing with a 4-over 76 in his first competitive tournament in 15 months.

That was enough to send the golf betting world into a dizzy and a flurry of action on his odds to win next year’s Masters. Woods’ odds to win the 2017 Masters were as low as 16-1.

Matsuyama’s (the Hero World Challenge Winner) odds to win the Masters were down to 15-1 earlier this month. He was one of five golfers with better odds than Woods.Jason Day and Jordan Spieth were 8-1 co-favorites to win the Masters, with Rory McIlroy at 9-1.

Tiger was listed at 20-1.The Masters will take place April 6-9 in Augusta, Georgia.
